History Around Ferring

Ferring has close associations with Kingston and East Preston, dating far back to the early days of Ferring’s ‘Minster Church’, and of course, to its neighbours to the north and west – Angmering and Goring.

Angmering’s history is very well documented on its ‘Village Life’ web site and there are two books (both long out of print) about Goring’s past (‘Ferring and Goring Past and Present’ by John Vaughan (1993) and ‘Goring and Highdown’ by the Rev Frank Fox-Wilson (1987)). A full local history of the coastal plain from Littlehampton to Goring is given in the Victoria History of Sussex vol.V, Part 2 (2009).
